The Russian army has suffered heavy losses in the Donbas, with the death toll reaching 2,000 soldiers, said National Security Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko at a briefing on Friday, September 5, reports Ukrainska Pravda.
“We can estimate the number of wounded by multiplying the number killed by four,” he said.
According to Lysenko, the wounded Russian soldiers are being treated in military hospitals in St. Petersburg, Rostov, Volgograd and Yeysk.
Lysenko also reported that the Russian army is supplying new equipment and soldiers to the Donbas and removing its dead and wounded.
Two columns of military equipment from Russia have arrived by way of Dibrovka in the direction of Dmytrivka in the Donetsk Oblast: “20 tanks, 9 Grad rocket launchers, armored personnel carriers, 13 KAMAZ tilt trucks and dozens of Ural vehicles with staff,” he said. Going in the opposite direction were 4 KAMAZ trucks and 6 cars filled with the dead and wounded, he added.
Lysenko also reported that ” at night in the tunnels of one of the mines in the Chervonopartyzansk region in the Luhansk Oblast, Russian soldiers dropped several dozen bodies they were transporting in two KAMAZ vehicles in order to conceal their military losses,” he said.
