Poll: Trust in Ukrainian Army at 94% in the country with highest distrust in political parties

A new poll reveals that Ukrainians place the most trust in the army, and volunteer units and organizations, while political parties, officials, and judiciary entities are the most distrusted.

The new opinion poll jointly conducted by the Razumkov Center and Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation revealed that among state institutions, Ukraine’s Armed Forces enjoy an overwhelmingly high level of trust, with 94% of respondents expressing confidence in the military institution. This was revealed during the report’s presentation at Ukrinform in Kyiv on 27 December.

Ukrainians extend their trust to various security and defense bodies, including:

  • volunteer units (89%)
  • the State Emergency Service (83%)
  • the National Guard (82%)
  • the Ministry of Defense (73%)
  • the State Border Guard Service (72%)
  • the Security Service (71%)
  • National Police (58%)

Other trusted entities include:

  • volunteer organizations (86%)
  • Ukrainian President (68%)
  • the church (63%)
  • NGOs (63%)
  • local leaders (53%)
  • the National Bank of Ukraine (51%)

The respondents express trust (48%) rather than distrust (43%) in Ukrainian mass media, local councils (43%/41%), and the ombudsman (43%/31%).

The most distrusted entities are political parties, with a staggering 76% expressing no trust, followed by:

  • government officials in general (73%)
  • courts and the judiciary in general (72%)
  • the Verkhovna Rada (66%)
  • the Government (63%)
  • the Prosecutor’s Office (62%)
  • commercial banks (58%)
  • the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor’s Office (52%)
  • the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (51%)
  • the National Anti-corruption Bureau (51%)
